Waukesha County Fair

Hi!! So this weekend, we are at the Waukesha County Fair. I'm actually sitting in our Street Studio right now. This is my first time at the Waukesha County Fair. I love it! It is like a low-key version of the Wisconsin State Fair. Thus far, I would have to say SUMMERFEST has had the best people watching. Not bad here though at the Waukesha County Fair! The ''KTI Summer Tour Presented by Sams Club'' is sponsored by the Milwaukee Bucks this summer and they are set up right in front of our Street Studio with a chance to shoot a bunch of free throws and get a t-shirt with the 'KTI and Bucks logos.

If you're wondering what the interns are doing at all of these festivals, the answer is not very sophisticated. We sit. We sit and answer questions from the listeners. Whether it's "What happened to Reitman and Mueller?" or "Where can I find ________?" or the most popular question, "What do ya got for free?" Our job is to create a positive image for the station by treating our listeners like kings and queens. I enjoy it, even though I'm usually burned out by the end of a six hour shift.

A little extra info...
This morning was my second 15K Payday event this summer. It was at a Verizon Wireless store here in Waukesha, a tad west of the fair. We kicked off a contest in March called the 15K Payday and here is what it all means: Every weekend we're at a different location with 250 dollar bills containing cereal numbers. The listeners hold onto the dollar bills that they collect between March and August because sometime in August, we will announce one cereal number and the person with that dollar bill will win $15,000! We'll give away a total of 5,000 bills. Unfortunately today, we did not give away all the bills, which is unusual. People arrive two hours early to get their hands on these bills. We also provided listeners with a password otherwise known as a bonus code which they'll type in next time they log in to our online club, 'KTI Insiders. They'll earn points more points for prizes.

That's all for now!

'KTI Sumer Tour Part 3

Racine Harbor...check. Summerfest...check. And now, Bastille days! Today is Wednesday, what I like to call "hump day" (long week...), and it's a busy one because we're setting up for Bastille Days. Bastille Days is a festival in downtown Milwaukee that contains a lot of different cultural (lots of French, obviously) exhibits. So today, I'll be going with my boss, John, and most likely Jason too, with the street studio downtown to set up shop. Like Summerfest, my responsibilities will be to answer listener questions and be a positive face for the station.

But for the next five hours, there is much work to be done with the morning show. We have several guests coming in this morning to compete for Jimmy Buffet concert tickets. By the way, these aren't just any tickets, oh no! We have VIP tickets as well tickets that will put our listeners on their own personal deck with catering and their own bathroom as they enjoy the show. How cool! I enjoy the listeners who come in for morning show contests, they really are characters, so it should be a good time.

A Hot Saturday In July

Hey there! So I'm a little more than a month into my internship at 'KTI. It has been so busy. We're in the middle of our summer tour right now. We began with Racine Harborfest, that was a blast, and now SUMMERFEST. Today, I have the day off, for once. It has to be known that my day begins at 3:50 AM to be at 'KTI by 5:00 AM to intern with the morning show and does not end until 7:00 PM when I bike home from working at our booth at SUMMERFEST. I love it! But I'm just a tad burned out. I'm going to go and bike up to River Tennis, a solid 10+ miles, 20+ round trip. Lounging in the hot sun (90 degrees today) by the pool and maybe even a little swimming sounds like a great way to relax after a week of long, long hours.

I am working tonight, 6 PM - 10 PM at the 'KTI booth at SUMMERFEST. It's going to be a great time. I'm working with one of my favorite fellow interns, Brittany, and I get to work with Michelle ('KTI Street Team) for the first time. We're gonna have some fun so PLEASE stop by!!!
